Lalbaugcha Raja unveiled ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi 2024 festivities; Take a look
Get a first look at Mumbai's iconic Lalbaugcha Raja as it is unveiled ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi, drawing millions of devotees for blessings and celebrations.
There will be one-way traffic on 55 roads, and 99 roads will be closed for heavy vehicles; police have also notified all procession routes as no-parking zones from 11 am on September 23 to 6 am on September 24.
Vehicular traffic in Mumbai will be restricted on 53 arterial roads with the city all set to descend on its streets for Ganesh visarjan on Sunday, September 23. The restrictions will remain in force from 12 noon to 6 am (next day). It’s Anant Chaturdashi, the final day of the Ganpati festival, on Sunday.
Several thousand idols, including those from some of the biggest Ganpati pandals, are to be immersed on Sunday.
The traffic police have set up control rooms at Girgaum Chowpatty, Shivaji Park Chowpatty, Bada Masjid in Bandra, Juhu Chowpatty and Ganesh Ghat in Powai. As many as 3,161 traffic police personnel and 1,570 traffic wardens will be deployed across the city.

Volunteers from NGOs will also be out in full strength to ensure smooth movement of the immersion processions.

According to a notification issued by the office of S Veeresh Babu, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), parts of Jagannath Shanker Sheth Road, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Road, and VP Road in South Mumbai will be closed to traffic, and so will Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road in Byculla and Sane Guruji Marg in Parel.
In Dadar, parts of Ranade Road, Keluskar Road, and Shivaji Park Road will be shut for vehicles. Tilak Bridge will remain closed to traffic from Dadar TT Circle to Kotwal Garden.
No north-bound traffic will be allowed on LBS Road from Kurla Bus Depot to the Ghatkopar Link Road junction.
In the western suburbs, no vehicles will be allowed on parts of Linking Road, Juhu Tara Road and Ceaser Road in Amboli.
In addition, there will be one-way traffic on 55 roads, and 99 roads will be closed for heavy vehicles.
Tilak Bridge, Veer Savarkar Road, Senapati Bapat Marg, Sion-Bandra Link Road, RC Road in Chembur and SV Road in Bandra are some of the roads where heavy vehicles won;t be allowed to ply on Sunday.
The police have also notified all procession routes as no-parking zones from 11 am on September 23 to 6 am on September 24.
